HyperX QuadCast 2 S Compatibility with PlayStation and Nintendo Switch
Updated
Why doesn’t QuadCast 2 S work with Sony PlayStation or Nintendo Switch?
The QuadCast 2 S leverages USB Audio Class 2 (UAC-2) technology to deliver audio quality, supporting bit depths beyond 24-bit and sampling rates above 96 kHz. Unlike its predecessor, UAC-1, UAC-2 also accommodates additional audio formats like DSD (Direct Stream Digital) and introduces features like audio jack detection and synchronized microphone mute between the microphone and host device.
Due to bandwidth requirements, UAC-2 requires USB 2.0 or higher to function.
Platform Compatibility
UAC-2 is natively supported on the following platforms, with no additional drivers needed:
Windows ( since Windows 10 build 1703)
macOS (since v 10.6.4)
Linux
Android
iOS/iPadOS
ChromeOS
Note that some features, like jack detection, may not function on all platforms.
Gaming Console Support
As for now, Sony PlayStation and Nintendo Switch do not support UAC-2 audio devices.
Compatibility Mode
While some UAC-2 devices can switch to UAC-1 for compatibility, the QuadCast 2 S does not have this feature.
*QuadCast 2 S' headphone output supports jack detection, made possible by USB Audio Class 2.
